The Jazz Menagerie 2.0
To me, Jazz, the highest form of individual freedom, evokes a conversation between highly intelligent virtuosic musicians and audiences. It is a living journey capturing joy, struggle and human resilience.
Jazz is America’s classical music, a wide range of styles from early traditional, big band swing to complex bop, avant garde, and modern fusion-characterized by improvisation, syncopation, and blues notes.
Jazz acts as a very personal, emotional and rhythmic soundtrack of my life, from my earliest formidable years to the present. It acts as a grounding force during times of stress transforming mundane daily tasks into artistic moments.
Providing a “soothing backdrop” with records acting as “timestamps” of past memories, relationships and experiences.
And I love to curate and play musical storytelling for the global jazz nation…

Jorie K. Logan
Jorie K’s Journey
Hi! I’m Jorie K. Logan, host of Jorie K.’s Journey on WHPK 88.5 FM, where I dig into the many layers and corners of jazz; from straight-ahead classics to funk-soaked grooves and eclectic sounds that stretch the tradition in new directions. With a background in broadcasting, voiceover, and media production, I approach every show as both listener and storyteller connecting the dots between the records and artists that built the foundation of the music and those carrying the tradition forward today. Whether it’s a timeless standard, a soul-jazz burner, or something beautifully unexpected, the goal is always the same: follow the groove and let the music lead the way. So, come aboard and take the ride for yourself.

Jazz Is
I am a Chicago native born and raised on the South Side. As a child, I was surrounded by music, particularly Jazz and R&B. But my love of jazz started in my teens when I would spend time with my uncles, listening to Freddie Hubbard, Milt Jackson, Weather Report, Miles. All the greats. I went to my first jam session at the old Enterprise Lounge on 75th when I was 18 to see Von Freeman. Playing music on WHPK is the realization of a lifelong dream and I consider it a privilege to be able to entertain our listeners with the music in my library.

John Morgan
All Jazz Considered / Future-Tone
I discovered my love for not only jazz, but also college radio during my time as an undergrad. My show All Jazz Considered covers the classics (Parker, Coltrane, Monk). Future-Tone is tailored to those brave enough to hear something new and different.
